PRONIA welcomes new leadership with sights set on a positive 2025
PRONIA celebrated its continuing impact in the community at their 52nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) while expressing excitement over its new leadership with an eye towards a fruitful 2025.
The organisation met at its Brunswick offices on 25 November, hosting members, board representatives, supporters and Justice Emilios Kyrou.
The AGM served as the first under the leadership of new CEO Sylvia Hadjiantoniou, who took over the role from Tina Douvos-Stathopoulos after she concluded her 34-year tenure at PRONIA in April.
President Elpis Korosidis thanked Douvos-Stathopoulos for her contributions, with the chair welcoming Hadjiantoniou into her new post with the organisation.
The CEO expressed she feels honoured to lead PRONIA and is keen to help it develop heading into the new year.
“In my first months, I have already seen the passion and resilience of our team and volunteers. Together, we will establish our strategic vision for 2025, focusing on inclusivity, innovation, and sustainable growth,” Hadjiantoniou said in a press release.
PRONIA awarded Dionysia Politis Volunteer of the Year at the meeting, honouring her near 30 years of service.
The AGM also recognised departing board members Voula Mesimeri and Liana Laios for their contributions.
The organisation noted the years of commitment and leadership from Mesimeri, who served as its CEO from 1989 to 2016.
New board members Julie Christopoulos and Sophie Sidiropoulos were welcomed, with the pair to bring their fresh perspectives and expertise to PRONIA.
Korosidis highlighted the organisation’s achievements over the last year, expressing sincere gratitude to all who have contributed to PRONIA’s success.
These include: 3,000 hours of casework providing emergency relief and essential support, 15,000 hours of volunteer services supporting isolated elderly individuals, 79,000 hours of activity-based programs for four planned groups, and 85,000 hours of in-home care for older community members.
Justice Kyrou praised PRONIA and its enduring impact, saying he is “proud to be the patron of an organisation that continues to support the Greek-Australian community with such dedication and innovation”.
