Preparing for Aged Care Reforms
Over the past few months, PRONIA has been actively preparing for the upcoming Aged Care Reforms. These reforms will come into effect on 1 November 2025, replacing the current Home Care Packages and the Short-Term Restorative Care program with the new Support at Home model.
Further details are available via the Australian Government – Aged Care Reforms website.
Informing Our Community about the new ‘Support at Home’
As part of our ongoing commitment to keep the community informed, PRONIA has:
- Conducted information sessions in Clayton and in Brunswick
- Delivered Greek-language radio broadcasts
- Published bilingual booklets (Greek and English)
PRONIA is committed to help clients understand the upcoming changes and how they aim to improve quality of life for older Australians.
Upcoming Info Sessions in Sunshine & Lalor
We are continuing our outreach with upcoming community information sessions to be held in Sunshine and Lalor. These will offer further opportunities for clients and carers to ask questions, share feedback, and feel confident about the changes ahead.
For Lalor: Friday 3 October at 11am – 1.30pm at Lalor Library
For Sunshine: Dates to be announced.
We will be posting on PRONIA’s social media the dates and more details.
Wellbeing Through Social Activities
Participants in our Planned Activity Groups have enjoyed a variety of enriching experiences, including:
- Lunch outings
- Creative arts activities like flower arranging
Meanwhile, carers were treated to a relaxing day at Skye High Restaurant, offering them some well-deserved respite and connection.
Dementia Support Services Continue to Grow
Our Dementia Support Service remains active in both Melbourne and Hobart, providing:
- Telephone and in-person support groups
- One-on-one guidance
- Programs focused on social connection
These services are essential in helping both individuals living with dementia and their carers feel supported. Contact our team to find out more about the program STRONGER TOGETHER for people with early stages of dementia and their carers.
Digital Literacy & Social Support Groups
Digital literacy classes in Oakleigh, Reservoir, and Preston are empowering older adults with valuable tech skills and confidence.
At the same time, our social support groups in Oakleigh and Brunswick are thriving — and always ready to welcome new members into their warm, active communities. Want to join? The groups meet Monday afternoon in Clayton and Friday mornings in Brunswick. They are completely free and they offer social connection and empowerment. To join, simply call PRONIA and ask for Paris.
